3rd and 4th weeks news

1) A new handphone targeted at the elderly and children has just made. The size of the numbers and words are at least three times bigger than our normal handphone as elderly has bad eye-sight. The elderly can see the words and numbers more clearly. Besides having big numbers and words, there is a special SOS button on the back of the handset so that if an elderly gets into trouble, pressing the single butoon will send emergency calls and text messages to four pre-programmed numbers.

Opinion:
I think that it is good to have this kind of handphone for the elderly. Also, I agree that elderly have bad eye-sight so it is good to have big words and numbers. It is very special to have a single button to send emergency calls and message as youngsters' target are always the elderly. The youngesters like to cheat their money so i think it is very creative to have a single button behind the handset. If the elderly's children wanted their parents to be safe, it is a good choice to buy them the handphone for them.

2)A man gave birth again. He gave birth to a daughter barely a year ago and now he just gave birth to a boy. He is the first legally transgender male to concevie after he decided to keep his female sex organs during chest reconstruction surgery and testostergone therapy. A photograph of bearded Mr Beateie with a pregnant belly became a worldwide sensation last year. The 35 year old and his legal wife 46, became parents again on Tuesday morning. Mr Beatie was once known as Tracy but retained his female sex organs in the gender reassignment surgery because he planned to give birth one day.

Opinion:
I think it is quiet weird to have a man to give birth. I could not really believe that a man could give birth. Although Mr Beatie was once a female, i think that once he sex to become a male, he should not retain the female sex organs in the gender. It is a miracle to have a man to give birth to two babys and he is the first man to give birth too.

My news summary (1st & 2nd weeks)....

1) A toddler was found drowned in a pail of water at home while his young mother slept, tired out after a night of clubbing. Adrian Ong Jun Wei's father was out looking for job that time. The child's maternal grandmother was also outside picking a gift for her grandson's first birthday. When Mr Ong reached home, he was shocked to see that his don was not on the mattress in the living room next to his wife. She was still asleep. Mr Og found his son in the toilet half-submerged in a pail of water. He pulled the baby out but he was unresponding. Immediately, he woke his wife, Ms Tan Siew Kim, 20, and they rushed to the Raffles Hospital when he was announced dead in about one an a half hours later. Mr Ong said that a month ago, his son crawled to the toilet and stood up. holding on a pail of water for support. he splashed water in it before his mother carried him away.

In my opinion:

This is a very sad story as the baby is only 11 month and he was dead. The mother of the child could not be totally blame as it is difficult for a 20 years old being a mother and she was very tired but she should check in the toilet before going to bed. As the family was very busy that time, nobody could take care of the child. If anyone of them check the toilet before going out or going to bed, then this incident will not happen.

To prevent all this kind of things to happen again, first, parents should check the toilets to see if there is any pails of water. Secondly, the parents must try not to be late back home to cause themself to get tired. Lastly, they should keep all the things that is dangerous for the baby to play or touch away from them. If they were really very busy, I suggest that they should hire a maid or bring the baby to the relative house before going to work.

2) A 15 year old Singaporean student studying in India has become the island's eigth case of H1N1. He is also the first boy to be picked up by the thermal scanners installed in Changi Airport. His fever was detected by the airport scanner when he arrived in Singapore on Monday. He was then brought to Tan Tock Seng hospital and is now warded at KK Women's and Childrean Hospital. He was taken there early Tuesday morning. The laboratory results at 2.40 pm on the same day confirmed he was infected by H1N1.

My opinion:

I think that the H1N1 virus has become more serious so Singaporeans must be more aware about the virus. We should try not to go to overseas this time to prevent the virus. In school, we must take our temperature daily or regularly to see if we have fever. If we really have fever, we should go to the clinic and do not go out to spread the illness to other people. Also, we must wash our hands regularly especially after using the toilet. Before eating, we must watch our hands too especially under our finger nails as the dirt will trap there. After all this kinds of practise, we can protect ourselves and fight against the virus. (212 words)

News summary...

Summary of the news...

H1N1 could travel faster than the Sars virus. This virus had killed 86 people and 11,168 confirmed cases in 42 countries. The World Health Organisation warned that the spread of H1N1 in Asia was in danger accelerating with the change of seasons.
Now, the number of confirmed H1N1 infection in Japan rose to 307. The Philippines has become the 42nd country to report the case of H1N1 virus. " The strength of country's health system will make the biggest difference in the sickness and survival during an influenza pandemic," said the WHO ( World Health Organisation)

Opinion:

In my opinion, i agree that the H1N1 virus can spread faster than the Sars. However, the Sars virus is more deadly. Even though it was not spread so quickly, more people died. H1N1 virus had cause a lot of deaths and a lot of people to feel unwell. By now, everyone should increase the hygiene level to prevent themselves from getting the virus.

I suggest that if anyone is not feeling well, they should rest at home and don't go out to prevent others to get the virus. Also, they should visit the doctor immediately once they feel unwell. If they do not visit the doctor immediately when they are sick, they are being very inconsiderate because they may get others sick as well. This will weaken others immune system and people with weaker immune systems may become an open target for the H1N1 virus. Thus, everyone should care for others even thought they are not your relatives. From now, everyone should practise hygiene to fight against the H1N1 virus.

(Last news)

1)Chew Chor Meng has great difficulty climbing stairs and he struggles to lift his four-year-old daughter. Soon, he may even lose his ability to walk. His doctor says that his life is not in danger, but in the next five to twenty years, his condition will get worst. He told the reporters that he still wants to look at his daughter to grow up. The disease that he had is inherited by his mother.

Opinion:
I think that he himself does not expect that he will get this disease. The disease he had is incurable, I think that it is very sad as he is a good actor and he got this kind of disease. I hope that this disease is curable.

2)The food that contains melamine in Singapore cost the AVA $2 million to do additional laboratory tests on the food to the chemical. A total of 440 of tainted food, from milk and candy to biscuits and chocolates, were destroyed.

Opinion:
I think that the food that contains melamine has cost Singapore a lot of money. I think that if the food that never contains melamine then Singapore’s AVA would not spend so much money to do additional laboratory tests on the food to chemical. I hope that in the future the food will not contain melamine again if not more people will get sick.

(3rd News)
1) This year, more people started to litter. The rate of people littering increase to 30,000 and more, so the governments conduct something. If they caught any one litter, they need to sweep the floor.

My opinion: I think that the governments are doing the right thing. Also, I think that this idea is very good and it will cause lesser people to litter. If more people continue to litter, there will be a lot of rubbish in Singapore and it will attract more insects and rats. I really hope that this idea will cause the rate of the people littering drop by a lot.

2) Next year, some of the places are smoke free. The places are shopping centre,
lift lobby, market, playgrounds and sheltered car park. If people are caught for smoking at those places, they may get fine.

My opinion: I think that the governments that think of this idea is very good. This idea can cause fewer people smoking. If fewer people smoke, then there the rate of air pollution will drop. If more places are smoke free, the rate of people smoking will drop more. I hope that this idea can really cause fewer people to smoke and the rate if people smoking may drop.

News
1. A 12 year old girl met someone online. They chatted and exchange e-mail addresses. She agreed to meet him. On the fixed day, the girl went to MRT station. Then, she saw a man wearing a coloured T-shirt and she was told to look out for. But instead of a teenage she was expecting, the man she chatted online is a middle age man with pot-belly.
My opinion: I think the girl should not meet any one that she was unfamiliar with because she may get into trouble and it will be very dangerous to meet someone you do not know.
2. A supermarket was chain and fined for a maximum of $5000 in distract court for having melamine-tainted strawberry milk on sale.
My opinion: I think the supermarket manager should not sell the strawberry milk because the news had said before that whose shop with the melamine milk will be fine. Also, the milk will cause more people to get sick. If the supermarket did not sell the milk, all this things will not happen. If the manger wants to sell the milk because he wants to earn money, I think it will be wrong to think like that. The reason is that nobody will buy the milk so until the end, they will not earn any money for selling the milk.

News

1) A man abused his own teenager daughter from the time she was 13 until she was 15. He started off with molesting her and then moved on to rape. He started raping her when she was only 13 and took place at least once a month. He was sentence to 28 years and 24 strokes of cane. My opinion: His daughter should report to the police when her father started molesting her and raping her. Her father should not do that as he know what is the punishment if he did that. The father should just take good care off his daughter. If he did not do that, he will not be in jail and suffer from the pain in the jail.

2) A man who work as a cleaner in a zoo, climbed over the fence and jumped into the pond. Then, he walked near the white tigers with a broom. He lay down on the floor and allowed the tigers to eat him. A tourist saw the scene and quickly took pictures of the tiger eating the man and passed them to the reporters. My opinion: I think that the man uncounted some problems so he did that. I think that if the man really had some problems, he should not have allowed the tigers to eat him. Instead, he should look for a counselor to help him.
